The BUTEX Business Club proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Dr. Mohammad Abbas Uddin Shiyak, Associate Professor of Dyes and Chemical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Textiles and the respected Moderator of BUTEX Business Club. His remarkable contribution to sustainable innovation has earned him a place among the winners of the Global Change Award 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious honors for groundbreaking ideas in the fashion and textile industry.
The award ceremony was held on 23 October 2025 at Stockholm City Hall, Sweden, where Her Royal Highness Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, presented the award to Dr. Shiyak. His visionary project, “Decarbonization Lab for Textile Process Innovation,” was selected among 476 global submissions from 69 countries, earning recognition from the H&M Foundation’s Global Change Award, often described as the “Nobel Prize of the fashion industry.”
Through this award, Dr. Shiyak joins the Global Change Award Changemaker Programme, where he will collaborate with global experts and industry leaders to expand the real-world impact of his innovation. His idea represents a strong step toward a cleaner and more sustainable textile future, reflecting the growing potential of Bangladeshi researchers on the global stage.
His success brings great pride to the BUTEX Business Club and serves as an inspiration for students and professionals who aspire to lead with purpose and innovation.
